The automotive process
Certification follows the same five steps on every qualifying vehicle, from the day the protection is installed at the dealership to the day the vehicle changes hands.
Qualifying products are professionally applied through a participating dealer program.
Product, vehicle and installation information is recorded.
The vehicle is connected to its VIN-based digital record through FORGED CONNECT™.
When all applicable requirements are satisfied, an individual FORGED CERTIFIED™ credential is issued.
The owner, dealer or future buyer can access the applicable record and verify the certification.
Three separate things
A coating is not a certification. Understanding the difference protects the owner, the dealership and the value of the record itself.
The physical products professionally applied to qualifying vehicle surfaces or systems. Engine, paint and exterior, interior, glass, wheel and corrosion protection may be offered, and the specific configuration installed on a vehicle is set by the participating dealer program.
Any applicable warranty, coverage, maintenance or ownership benefits provided under the written dealer program. Benefits differ by program and are governed entirely by the written terms the owner receives at the dealership.
The documentation, registration and verification credential issued when applicable requirements are satisfied. It records what was installed, on which VIN, by which participating dealer, and makes that record available to look up later.
The coating itself is not the certification, and purchasing a product does not by itself make a vehicle FORGED CERTIFIED™. Certification is issued only when the applicable documentation, registration and program requirements are satisfied.
Inside an automotive program
Each qualifying vehicle is registered against its 17-character VIN. The record holds the installed protection, the installation date and the participating dealer, so the vehicle — not a paper folder — carries its own history.
A certification can be looked up by VIN or certification number at any time. Owners, participating dealers and future buyers see the applicable documented record and its current status.
Engine protection using Lucas Oil products may be offered within qualifying automotive program configurations. All Lucas Oil program elements remain subject to final program approval and the applicable written terms.
Where a participating dealer supports it, a documented installation may be eligible for submission through the applicable CARFAX workflow. Submission eligibility does not guarantee that information will appear on any CARFAX report.

At the dealership
Certification is a process the store runs, not a product on a menu. Four things change once qualifying vehicles are documented and registered.
Protection is usually sold once and then forgotten. A registered certification record gives the store a legitimate reason to stay in contact with the customer after delivery, tied to the vehicle rather than to a marketing list.
What was installed, when, on which VIN and by whom is captured at the point of installation. If a question arises months later, the store is not searching for a copy of a work order.
Every qualifying vehicle moves through the same five steps, so the customer experience does not depend on which advisor delivered the car that afternoon.
When the vehicle is traded or sold privately, the documented protection record can be presented and verified by the next buyer, which supports the value of the work the store performed.
For the vehicle owner
The owner does not have to manage paperwork. The vehicle carries its own documentation, and the owner can reach it whenever it is needed.
The participating dealer records the vehicle, the installed protection and the applicable program terms, and the vehicle is registered against its VIN.
The owner can open the record, see what is documented on the vehicle and review applicable ownership information provided under the written program.
Before a service visit, a trade appraisal or a private sale, the certification can be verified by anyone with the VIN or certification number.
Applicable ownership benefits, coverage and maintenance requirements are defined by the written program terms provided by the participating dealer, not by the certification record itself.
