The marine process
How marine certification works
Marine certification follows five steps, applied to the individual vessel through a participating marine dealer, marina or installation program.
Step 1: Protect
Qualifying marine protection is professionally applied through a participating marine dealer, marina or installation program.
Step 2: Document
The vessel, installed protection, installation date and participating provider are documented.
Step 3: Register
The vessel is connected to its digital record through FORGED CONNECT™.
Step 4: Certify
An individual FORGED CERTIFIED™ credential may be issued when all applicable program requirements are satisfied.
Step 5: Verify
The owner, participating dealer or future buyer can access and verify the applicable certification record.

A marine record is created for an individual vessel. Availability depends on the participating dealer, marina or installation program and the applicable program configuration.

Vessels are identified using vessel identification information — the HIN, when applicable. Where a trailer is included, its own identification information is documented separately so each unit carries its own record.

The program benefits
Any contractual coverage, terms, limits or ownership benefits are defined by the participating provider and the written program documents supplied at the point of sale.
FORGED CERTIFIED™
The documentation and verification layer: what was applied to this vessel, by whom and when, registered through FORGED CONNECT™ and verifiable by the owner, dealer or a future buyer.
The protection product is not the certification. Purchasing or applying a product does not automatically make a vessel FORGED CERTIFIED. Certification is issued only when the applicable protection, documentation, registration and program requirements are satisfied.

Hull, gelcoat and painted exterior surfaces
Applicable programs may document protection applied to the hull, gelcoat and painted exterior surfaces of the vessel.
Marine glass
Applicable programs may document protection applied to marine glass surfaces.

Applicable programs may document protection applied to seating, vinyl, fabric and other interior surfaces.
Exposed metals and hardware

Registered and verifiable
What is documented is held in the digital record and can be verified later using the certification record for that vessel.
Available protection products, program benefits and program features vary by participating dealer, market and program configuration, and are governed by the applicable written program terms provided at the point of sale.

What certification changes for a dealer
For a participating marine dealer, marina or installation program, certification turns a protection sale into a documented record that can be shown, verified and carried forward on trade-in or brokerage.
Evidence instead of assurance
Rather than describing what was applied, the provider can show a registered record connected to the vessel identification information.
A cleaner delivery conversation
The protection applied, the program documents and the certification record are presented together at delivery.
Stronger used and brokerage inventory
A previously certified vessel arrives with a documented protection history that supports how it is presented.
Accountable installation
The record names the participating provider and the installation date, so documentation quality stays consistent.

FC-VPS 01 is the FORGED automotive vehicle protection standard and does not automatically govern marine. Marine program availability, protection systems, contractual coverage and any ownership benefits are determined by the participating dealer and program configuration, and are governed by the written program terms provided at the point of sale.
